Remember that Halloween episode where Alison told a story about a pair of twins? And then one of them came to visit Ashley Marin on Halloween? The story was clearly just an Easter egg-style reference to Alison having a twin in the novel series, but bringing back an unsolved mystery from the series to create a spin-off that explains its ties to the show would be interesting.
Seriously, we need to know why Ashley reacted so strangely to seeing that girl! Although bringing back a mystery like Alison's Halloween episode might make for a good spin-off, it's also possible to go way too far with that. Ravenswood premiered as part of one of Pretty Little Liars ' infamous Halloween specials and, to be honest, it felt like one. Although the Halloween specials were fun and creepy, they don't exactly make for a whole series. Ravenswood very much felt like it was just a drawn-out Pretty Little Liars Halloween special rather than a show of its own, which is one of the reasons that it failed.
The Perfectionists showed that Pretty Little Liars fans are apparently not interested in Mona and Alison's lives after the series ended. The series really brought the story to a close for basically all of the characters and their inclusion in The Perfectionists didn't feel necessary.
If the creators really want to keep old characters for a spin-off series, the best way to do that would be to make a prequel series. Instead of showing us what happened to these characters after they left Rosewood behind, show us what happened to them before Alison disappeared.
When it was announced that Alison and Mona would both be appearing in The Perfectionists , many people were intrigued. But not before Hanna is told that the po-po are keeping Papa Marin's gun for testing to determine if it was used to kill Wilden:. Shana says she transferred schools to Rosewood and took Em's spot on the swim team. Then she sees the flyers Em has for the open mic at the cafe and asks if she can come to it.
Meanwhile, PM and Hanna are talking. He wants to know what she said to the police. She lets him know that she didn't say anything, then blurts out that she found his gun in MM's luggage:. Em updates Spence and Aria about Hanna and Shana at the cafe. Before they can finish their convo, the newbie at the cafe, Connor, knocks over some stuff and Aria helps him. Turns out he's on her brother Mike's lacrosse team, and he asks her to help him out with a school essay. She agrees:. PM confronts MM about the gun.
MM denies killing Wilden and says she didn't bring a gun into the house and must have been set up. That's when we see this text from "A" to Hanna: "You bark, I bite. Say my name, they both get the blame. Mona's back finally and shows up at the cafe and tells Em, Spence, and Aria that she was MIA because she was tracking down her RV and discovered that Toby took it and gave it to A, but Spence already knew that and has been covering for him. Spence is speechless and says it's true.
The LL respond:. Em and Aria meet up later and are pissed, but their rage is interrupted when Hanna calls to let them know that A is framing MM and threatening to put both her parents in jail. She quickly hangs up to spy on her parents:. She then confronted him, he grabbed the gun out of her hands, and she ran away:. So you pull a gun on someone, they take it away from you and let you run away? That scenario sounds dumb as hell, but ooooookay.
Then someone pounds on the door. It's Caleb. Hanna's parents tell him that he can't be there, so he leaves. That's it? They crash the town's Founders Day Celebration after finding a clue in "A's" lair that Alison may still be alive. Caleb decides to stay for a while, leading into the premiere of "Ravenswood" -- from the same creative team as "PLL" -- in which he joins forces with Miranda and three others Brett Dier, Britne Oldford and Merritt Patterson linked by a fatal curse connected to the town's terrible history.
Also starring are Steven Cabral and Foster. Studios lot in Burbank, Calif. In fact, executive producer Oliver Goldstick is worried about the last filming location.
Please tell me that no one's going to realize that in Pennsylvania, we don't bury people in tombs that are 6 feet high. It appears that Caleb has taken up drinking to forget his bigger problems, and that might include whatever happened to Miranda in Ravenswood.
Perhaps Caleb was given the opportunity to bring Miranda back from the dead and something went horribly wrong, leaving her to wander around the town as a ghost for eternity.
That would certainly be something Caleb would want to forget, and hitting the bottle would be one very unhealthy way to do that. Then there's the more extreme, far more awful option. The Ravenswood pact was the reason why Caleb was lured back to the town — he was one of the five teens slated to die in his generation. However, the show isn't necessarily specific about which teens had to go. What if the town went through with the pact, and Caleb came out unscathed?
Perhaps his three friends and two other unassuming teens all died together as the pact warranted, and Caleb, for whatever reason, was spared, possibly due to the wrench that Miranda's death threw in the Pact Maker's overall plan. Caleb may not have technically been responsible for the deaths of his peers, but he would still feel survivor's guilt.
